Well I had made a post a couple weeks ago about the 02 a4 i was looking at. Turns out after the audi inspection that the turbo was pretty much blown and that the transmission was slipping. Good thing I took it to audi, but this was the car I had never driven (long story) so I didnt have to pay for the PPI. Anyway, I have found an 01 with only 41k miles and has quattro. Its a very clean car, black on black, auto, etc... Does set a little higher than the 02's and I really prefer the 02 body styling alot better, but this car is only 14400 a (havnt had it inspection yet, but will this weekend). Anyhoo, should I go for the 01, or should I wait for an 02???? The price dif I like though save a couple grand and get less mileage, but the 02 just looks so much better. Just so hard to find quattro on those here in florida.

oh, by the way.... The screen on the guage cluster had lines through it and parts were just black, seems common in these cars, is this a hard fix, or is it something extremely expensive and not worth it?

Find a B6 if that is the body style you prefer.

 

I know from experience - hold out or you'll regret it.

I bet that your local dealership could sell you that part, since it's fairly hard to find, if it's the LCD as I understand. It would probably be an easy install if you can work a soldering iron.

 

b6? same as an a6? I dont like the a6 to be honest... seems kinda big. I'd prefer the 01 body style over an a6. I just wondered what you all thought of the 01 or if waiting for a year newer would be worth it.

edit: ok I look like a moron... i figured out what a b6 is. sorry.

I do prefer the upgraded look, but I feel with the 9 spokes on the 01 and a lower stance, it looks better than the 02.

 

Take your time and figure out exactly what you want. Either way I would go for a sport package with either if possible.

 

whats in the sport package? I assume bigger wheels and a lowered suspension.

B6 is the chasis of the A4.. B6 = audi 02-05 i believe. where the 2006 is a B7.. The b5 is less that 2002.. soo 2001- 96 i think. (not sure when it ends) a B5er can help u

The body style u like (the 2002) is a b6

Just get whatever bodystyle you like more. They're both great. The interior on the b6 is quite a bit nicer than the b5. Be patient and don't settle, and you will eventually find one thats perfect for you.
