I am on the same boat as you...But to make my choice even harder I put TT in to that equation. So for me B5 vs. B6 vs. TT
I am leaning towards TT, because its more of a sport car, lighter and handles better. The thing I am afraid is that isn’t as reliable as A4...

For me the only reason to get B5 over B6 is because they are cheaper. I can have 2000 B5 for $8k; 2002 B6 for around $12K and 2000TT for $10K All with about 50k miles. I know it’s cheap, but my friend is a dealer
Sebastian
Ps. Either way I go, I am putting GT2871R on it

definitely get the car that you know you like better.

and yeah, just to echo...the interior of the b6 is absolutely stunning. i would certainly say it's the most striking difference between the b5 and b6.

Go for a B6! The interior is just so much nicer in my opinion. The LCD question: No you can not replace the LCD by itself. You have to replace the entire intrument cluster, which is a expensive job!

I feel your pain right now. Im a newbie to Audi's as well. I really love the body style of the 2002 and up A4's, but like the performance of the 2000-2001 S4's. Im in a tough predicament right now and have been on the forums everyday for the past week trying to find the answer. Im coming from a 2003 mustang Cobra w/ 480 RWHP., but its just wasnt practical for me. So im looking for a nice sporty sedan around $20000.

Yes this is very tough!! The 01 a4 I am looking at only has 41k miles, but it just doesnt have the look i want... The s4 is soooo far away being in ft lauderdale which is 4 hours from me and that car has 91k miles, but both are the same price. Like I've said, my previous car was a porsche, so I miss the power and handling, but I don't miss the expensive parts I was constantly pumping into it, which is what i think I would be doing with the s4 with such high mighlage. DECISIONS DECISIONS!!! Havn't found an 02 in my price range yet that I like so it is out of the picture at the moment. Seems like they are all FWD here and the quattros are like 20k!! with same milage (50-60k) too much imo...

Saturday I am taking the 01 to the dealership to have it inspected, so I will give it until then to make my decision on the a4 or the 00 s4. Just seems like the car is in really good shape, but if you look close you can find a few things (cosmetically) wrong with it... like plastic trim cracked and not fitted correctly and even though it wasnt a smokers car there is one damn burn in the rear seat where some jackass stuck his head in there with a cig!! Exterior is really clean, but the front has a crack where looks like they ran it on a curb when parking it and backed offa it (just that trim piece not the whole bumper)... but the milage is so appealing!!

We shall see after the PPI.

Thanks guys!!

PS: if I do get the a4 I am putting those sport 9 spoke 18" factorys and lowering that damn thing... looks like something my grandma would drive atm hahahah
