in that case, when I shop for flash or chip for my B7 2.OT, I should look at the one that give me the highest torque upgrade for quicker acceleration

Higher torque for off the line acceleration, higher HP for higher top-end speed. Thats the theory anyway.

So, a chip with more torque rating should be slightly quicker off the line than one with a lower torque rating. Usually if its rated higher for torque, its probably rated higher for HP as well.

Revo produces the highest level of torque, thats what I'm going with this week, seems they have the best power numbers out of all the companies.

I'm sure you know what torque is if you have ever tried to take off a wheel. If you need to increase the torque value you can do 1 of 2 things, 1 increase the amount of force on the lever (push harder) or 2. increase the lever are (pipe extension). So since the crankshaft lever arm is pretty much fixed you can only really increase the force to gain more torque. So just bump up your HP and the torque will go up as well.

Torque is needed to get something rolling from a stop but once its moving you need more HP to spin it faster.

When selecting a chip be careful and don't read into the numbers that are given my the chip maker too much.

You don't know under what conditions they were taken at and I am sure they all used different dynos and the results are probably inflated nicely for marketing.

Go find a local shop that you think provides the best support and buy the chip they sell.

The best chip is garbage if you don't have good after sales support for any issues you might have.

When deciding what chip to get all you want to look at is Torque and redline not hp. Horsepower is not a measurment it is a calculation. When you dino your car it measure your torque not your hp. It uses the formula (RPM X Torque)/5252 = Hp. In general you peak torque is the point at which you will best accelerate in that gear and your peak HP is when you will best accelerate at any speed. Holding everything else constant. A car with Higher HP will accelerate faster regardless of it having higher torque. I can explain more if you want but i'm to lazty right now
