Default Traded Cars. 2.8L upgrades?

I recently got a 1.8T audi 99.5 with 157k on it. My friend traded me his stock 128k 2.8L quattro with the tiptronic trans in it for it straight up. Both cars are mechicanically sound. He just wanted a black car??? So I'm looking for any upgrades in regards to the 2.8L its a 99 as well. Trans chip? I've got into the exhuast already and I got a lead on a pes g2 charger kit used for 2k. So anything else you guys would suggest?

The supercharer is about your only option for real power gains. I think speentuning makes a chip for the engine but honestly you should have kept the 1.8t, it's more tunable.

You must reallly like that friend unless the body or interrior was beat on the 1.8t. Not much in the way of upgrades for the 2.8.

bad idea. trade back. you cant mod the 2.8 for any substantial gains, besides a supercharger for 5 g's. and TIP tranny's SUCK!

kind of an odd trade, but hey if you dont want to mod the car to death and like the lesser mileage, then so be it.

The 1.8 was a non quattro. and higher mileage. I've droven a tiptronic seemed just as good as the 5-spd? He told me he had a chip put in the trans or something for better shift points etc. I would like to know what ones are available. I paid 750 for the 1.8t and got a better one in trade so im good. All power, pearl white, bose etc. heated seats etc. the 1.8 didn't.

If i get the g2 charger for 2k I think i made the better choice.

yeah that was definitely a good trade then. if i were you tho, i would now sell the 2.8 and buy a 1.8T thats has quattro, sport and premium pkg, etc...

if you could get the supercharger for 2k, that would be nice but then your stuck with that amount of power forever. no more upgrading from there, whereas with the 1.8T you have quite a few options.

what r the numbers on a supercharged 2.8? cause the tip tranny can't hold a lot of power.

Not necessarily. Everyone talks about peak hp gains all the time, but there's a lot more to it than that. A chip in a 2.8 might gain 6-8hp peak, but what about midrange, the so-called "area under the curve" of the dyno chart? Depending on how it's tuned relative to stock, there is the possibility to realize real gains in the midrange. While the relatively few hp the car gains in total, as read on a dyno, may only be a few, how many of us are really romping the sh*t out of our cars (besides TheRussian, who apparently is either parked or driving sideways lol) on a daily basis? The chip may only gain a few hp up top, but a midrange increase of 10-15hp could happen, again, depending on how the SpeedTuning program compares to stock. I used to see this with headers on the non-turbo Nissans as well. They only made an extra few hp at the highest hp point on the curve, but they picked up midrange gains in torque and hp of 15-20 in both categories. Personal preference for me would be a chip that picks up midrange power at the expense of top-end power, since I don't drive my 2.8 with the illusion that it revs like an S2000. I'd prefer power in the part of the band that I use, and some of the 2.8 owners who've chipped have commented on the midrange gains as being the most impressive, so it seems that SpeedTuning may have gone this route as well.
