I called my local Audi dealer and they said that they don't recommend doing it. He said they rarely have to and haven't done one in a while. Don't ask me. I also called the local euro mechanic he said that he would give me a call back on it. I have no idea. I will wait for him to call me back. I just don't want to pay for this and then have it not accomplish anything you know?
yaya ... dont listen to the dealer. All fluids in a car break down over time and their lubricating capabilites weaken. Its a fact. Audi says its a "sealed" unit and does not need to be serviced for the life of the car. Thats BS and most people know it. You REALLY should get the filter and fluid changed. It can only extend the life of your tranny (if the correct steps are taken during the service.). Based on your symptoms, its a must. Dont put it off. Do you want me to go take a picture of my old fluid compared with new? Thats all it should take for ya... Well, it might be quicker if i just take asteaming dump and put it next to a bottle of honey and snap shot it.. Same thing basically.
I know, I will do it. And obviously I am going to take it to the other mechanic. The audi dealer said that even if I brought my own stuff it would still cost me like 128 for an hour and a half of labor. If my calculations are correct that is like 85 bucks and hour. GOUGE!
