Have you talked to the person/place you bought it from about the first time it happened?

Yeah I bought it on autotrader and that day I called the guy and he said it wasnt his problem anymore it was mine because the car was mine now. So for us not to bother him and we went to the place that it said on his business card and they said that he was no longer allowed there... So we paid to get it fixed on our own.

Well I guess go back to the place you had it fixed the first time to see what they think of what happened. They are not going to admit any fault of course, but it might help. Are you manual or automatic?

Lesson number 1; Before you buy a used car, have it checked by a qualified mechanic.

Where is the smoke coming from? I am unclear how a transmission repair would fix exhaust smoke.
