Default Transmission F-ed?

Ok...i did a search for this, but nothing came up as i am not really sure what to search for...
recently my 1998 A4 1.8TQT actually stalled on me...kinda wierd, if u want to know the full story just ask
anyway ever since then, when i accelerate from first to about 4-5 thousand RPMs, the car starts to rumble...and i dont know what it is, or if the stalling has to do with it
also, almost every time i accelerate out of a turn or go up hill...i hear a clinging noise that sounds like its on the front-right part of the car...

any help at all would be amazing...

thanks

Can you get a sound clip? If it was the tranny itshould do it through all rpms in one single gear or all gears but not at a specific rpm range.

hmm...well the rumbling is like when the car is about to shift, so its not really always at 4-5 thousand, but thats about where i shift it normally, so thats when ive experienced it more...

but the clinging sounded like there was a metal thing under my passenger seat. but i looked under there and theres nothing there, so it has to be under the hood or under the car...
