Alright, I have since bought my new A4 and sold my '01 to my younger brother. He just noticed that the pixels on the trip computer display(the part where the gas light and brakes, and radio station shows) are going out a little bit. but the wierd thing is when it is hot outside, the pixels show poorly, but then it is around 70*F, the display shows perfectly.... is this a sign that his display is on its way out?

 

It's only downhill from here.

 

Yup, very common problem. There's no fixing it, either.
Three options:
-live with it
-pay nearly a grand for a new one
-buy a used one and hope it works better than the one you're replacing

 

i literally just got mine replaced at the dealer because it was doing the same thing.

good ol' extended warrenty.
