Back to the subject, me being a B5 nut i get to PDI new RS4's right off the delivery truck and let me tell ya the sheer torque from that engine is a little scary and actually takes a bit of skill to drive it.
The 1-2 shift can almost break your neck if your driving it hard enough and turning off the traction control is almost stupid if you don't have insurance.
I would drive the RS4 all day long over my B5 if i could afford it.

Oh I don't plan on buying either one of these cars. I'm a grad student on his way to a PhD which means I will be poor forever. This is a hypothetical question.
I can only say one thing based on this response.........

My plan is to keep my current S4 for the next 4 years or so, keep the miles low, dump it and pick up a used 07' RS4 then. By then it should be about a $40k used car and very affordable.

What I meant was that they are both fast but the RS4 is built better for handling. And yeahthis isgay if you are not getting either car

the rs6 is just fast the rs4 is fast and can handle
oh ya? how do you figure? when was the last time you took an rs6 to the track?
