Turbo Boost
It's usually looks like a threaded rod connected to large vale on the exhaust side of the turbo. You can move the vavle from open to closed by adjusting the nuts on that threaded rod. Basically, when you open the waste gate it allows the exhaust gasses to flow past the turbine not through it, therefore less boost. If you close the waste gate all of the exhaust gasses are forced through the turbine and then you get more boost. It's not real easy to get to in our cars. It's on the bottom side of the stock turbo if I'm not mistaken.
Ok, well the reason im asking this is because I told my audi dealer i wanted for power, I asked about the chip, he said he would void my warrenty but he did said he would allow the boost being turned up, as labor is expensive, how long would this take him to do?
Well, techically the chips do void the warranty. If you've got the coin, you could buy another ECU and chip it. Then just swap ECU's when you have to take the car to the dealer. As for the waste gate adjustment, it akes about two minutes to adjust it, it's getting there that's the problem. I think you have to take quite a bit off just to get to it. Another thing is, I don't know how the stock turbo is set from the factory. If it's set fully closed then there's nothing more you can get out of it. If it's partially opened then we're talkin. Let me do a little research on this and see if I can find out how it's set from the factory.
