Default turbo failure or???

I have a 01 b5 A4 1.8TQ it has recently been smoking white smoke out of exhaust. 1 week ago i turned it on and it poored out alot of smoke. Today driving to school i stopped at a red light and a cloud of white smoke came out of the exhaust and passed my window. Yes i do have a check ingine light on but its for a upstream o2 sensor. I recently did an oil change and put a new boost gauge on it. Week n half ago put a new borla exhaust on. Please tell me what you guys think could be causing this? if so turbo what u guys recomend for aftermarket turbo?

when you changed your oil was it milky looking? like a nasty chocolate milk color? also check your coolant bottle and see if has some oil in it.

what was the specific check engine like code that was pulled?

The oil kinda was milky, it was pure black. And will do check coolant bottle today. All I know for the code was bank 1 02 sensor. And the guy told me upstream o2 sensor.

How can oil be both "milky" and "pure black"?

haha was kind of thinking the same thing but give the dude a break. You obviously know where I'm going with this and given you had no other input on it I have a feeling you're thinking the same thing I am.

By the oil looking like chocolate milk brother, I meant exactly that, same color almost to the same consistency too. That would have let us know if you have a blown head gasket. White smoke out of the tail pipe is a typical sign. a tell tail sign is the chocolate milk colored oil. If you have some oil in the coolant bottle it could lead to a blown head gasket but more than likely intake.

and i tell all of my clients that are looking to maintain or modify their vehicle the best "mod" they can get is to buy whatever the best code reading device they can for their particular vehicle.

I forgot to add that if its been quite a while since that o2 sensor was swapped go ahead and do it regardless of if its the fix or not. you'll need it anyways.

upstream o2 sensors help the computer control fuel trims based on their readings of the exhaust. Even if its not the culprit to your problem chances are its going to go south soon anyways.

When folks who want to take their car to the track ask me what "mod" they should buy first I tell them, "Mod the driver and buy some driving lessons."

Thanks guys for the info will do go get a code reader. The oil was pure black not milky sorry for that it was a long day. I didn't get to checking to see if oil is in the coolent resivor. I will do that today. It's only when I stop at a stop sign or light that the smoke comes out of the exhaust now.

Hahahahah "Buy some driving lessons!"
