Turbo Grinding Noise?
Recently I have been hearing a noise when I start my car. It sounds like its coming from the turbo but I am not exactly sure. The noise comes on when I start my car and lasts for about 30 seconds - 1 minute. You can hear the sound winding up and winding down when it starts and stops and sounds kind of high pitch. It definately doesn't sound like it is normal. Does anyone have any experience with this noise? It usually only happens when my car has been sitting for a night or over about 5 hours.
I second acetrebo... def. secondary air injection pump. mine does the same thing. its not harmful though.
check the hose directly to the left of the engine block. its a hard line and it has a plastic elbow on it. that elbow is exposed to extreme heat and is known to crack. that's what has happened to mine and I get that sound now. I haven't fixed it yet but when I do I'll let you know if the sound goes away.
otherwise your pump may be on its way out or you may need a new valve.. run a quick search I started a thread a few weeks ago about it and everyone chimed in... a lot of good info in this thread...
