turbo lag?
Stock, you will reach full boost ~2600-2800rpms. Chipped, you will reach full boost ~3300-3600rpms. It also depends on what chip you have and air temps and if the car is cold or warm and what gear you are in. The best way to get rid of turbo lag is to get the exhaust gases out faster. A catback system will help, but a test pipe or HFC will dramaticlly reduce turbo lag.

And yes a chip for the 1.8T totally changes the car. You won't even think of the lag because its like a new car. But i you bogg your car out on a start you will notice the lag. Its like your car stalls and then just goes wild at ~3500rpms.
chip increases torque and hp. Much more get up and go with a chip. With an '05 B6 you are lookin at ~200hp give or take depending on the chip. No idea about the B7..don't think anyone has any performance mods for them yet.
