Default turbo options

hey fellas, i was wondering from you more experienced guys, i am looking for a turbo system for my car (97 1.8) with more desirable traits than like the gt28 or 2871... i am looking for something a bit bigger, that will make around 300whp on like 15 psi of boost... i dont like running real high boost cause it creates more heat, and the real goal in mind is volume, not pressure... id like it to spool around 3500-4000 to full boost, and an internal wastegate would be great, but if not oh well... but my main goal is that hp number and lower boost, to achieve more power with less strain. would a 3071 do the job or is that still to small?

3071 with a good tune would do it, a 3076 would deffinately get you there but its a bit more laggy than the 71.

you can rout your external wastegate back into the exhaust system if you dont want it to be loud. like trailboss said look at the gt3076R, that is basically the same turbo that tom is running but wiht ball bearings

All this talk of turbos makes me want to cry...... I am going to devote my life to figuring out how to put a sweet turbo system into my 2.8l. haha no not really, but I wish I was smart enough to do something like that.

on the mustangs we used to just flip the exhaust manifolds then make midpipes to hook them up to turbos... lots of custom exhaust work. prob same for the 2.8...

anyway, thanks for the advice, im not worried about lag, im looking for low pressure high volume to make high power.

if your not worried about lag then look into some of the t3/t4 turbos, they are half the price as the garret BB turbos.

that aint a bad idea, i wasnt aware of the pricing diff between the two, and its not that i dont care about lag, its just that i wanna run below 1 bar of boost, so it really wont be much of an issue, and the benefits cant be beat, cause in the end, the manifold pressure is about the same. (for those of you that this confuses, boost is always read from the intake side of the turbo, the pressure balances out by the time it hits the intake manifold)
