Default turbo parts

ok 99 1.8t manual. i've heard that the best way is not a turbo kits is to piece it up. now is this true? because apr kits cost alot of money i think i can save money if i bought it in piecies in stead of the whole kit. can anyone tell me if im doin this rite and yes i did the search thing also.

i pieced my togeather and made more power then kits. but it all depends on the power you want. high hp= no kit but lower hp=kit

its all programmin anyways
if u can get all the hardware on ur own by all means go for it, it will save u alot but its programmin thats important

i cant agree more that its all in the tuning. that should be the first thing you find becuase it is always the hardest thing to get on audis.
