Default Turbo Question

What other turbos are there that would get me above 300hp? Ive looked at the GTRS ones, but the website was not helpfull.

That'd do nicely, but i'd look at a larger front mount intercooler and some serious mapping.

When it sais that it has a flow capacity of 350hp does that mean that it can produce that much? or is taht with tuning and stuff.

Will the GT3040R-TURBO work on the 1.8t? how much other stuff do i need to buy for it once its installed?

You could make 350 with it but it'd be hot, like the KO3 making 250. It's not just going to give you the power you'll have to work damn hard for that kind of power from the 20v T.

If you're serious about over 300bhp then the first thing to do is the clutch + oil pump, then look to getting a front mount intercooler. Not sure on the stock injector flow rates but maybe somebody else can say if they're ok for that kinda power. From there you'd want to get the car mapped on a rolling road ideally and the car will need the highest octane fuel you guys get.

I'd replace or check over all the turbo hosing and fit something like a forge DV. You can go bigger turbo wise but not much point, you'll end up with a lazy laggy setup with no real punch. A smaller unit like the T28 or the T3 is ideal as it spins up hard and fast. Plus if you're going bigger power ie over 350 bhp then the car will need more mods, and the transmission strain will be greatly increased.

If you're talking Garret T3 and T4 they're not just one turbo, they're 2 very different turbos.

The T3 is good for about 350bhp obviously with other mods and it'll spin up pretty quickly and give you a nice pickup. The T4 is a larger turbo, on the 1.8t Audi I'd have thought it's a bit of an overkill, you can see 450-500bhp through T4's, I'm not talking Audi engines here though. But if you fit one to the 1.8t it's gunna be to big imo.
