im lookin for a 03-04 1.8T, i was wondering which turbo should i put in? Which would be the fastest and which the most reliable?

all depends on how much money you wana spend and how much you wana mod the car. k04 is the cheapest and easiest way to go. you dont have to change any other parts in the engine but it is not as powerful as some of the other turbo's. The GT28RS will provide more power than the k04 and im pretty sure the GT2871R is even more powerful than that. The more powerful you go tho the more expensive and turbo's beside the k04 will require more engine tuning and new parts. in terms of reliability i'd say the k04 is the most reliable, then the gt28rs and then the gt2871r. as i daily driver i would suggest the k04 cause it cheap, reliable, and still provides some good power

 

ok i plan on doing the following mods:

suspension
exhaust
intake
chip


could i still get the GT28RS turbo? or should i stick with the k04?

and do you know the HP boosts for each?

 

if you want the gt28rs you will need a new manifold, intake, motor mounts, oil/coolant lines, clutch, and some other stuff so i wouldn't recommend it. and to run it RIGHT you will need quite a few more things than that. with a k04 and the mods you plan on doing you'll be puttin down some good power so i'd suggest that route.

o and when you get that chip make sure u upgrade your DV as well cause the stock one cant handle the added boost.

Diverter valve

 

DV is a Diverter Valve. it's kinda like a Blow-Off Valve only it doesn't vent it into the atmosphere. a new clutch would be a good idea but i would wait till u burn through your current one b4 you get a new one

 

I don't know if they have the GAIC x+ file for the a4's but there havae been a ton of good results with the 28rs and 2871r with this file in the gtis
