Only mod I have is a test pipe. My turbo will build boost most of the time but sometimes you can tell theres no boost building althought you can hear the turbo slightly. Im thinking its the wastegate pulley being stuck or possibly a boost leak somewhere? Any ideas? its a 99.5 a4 1.8tq. It has been doing this for a while even before I got the test pipe.

 

ya check the wg and check for leaks. sounds like a stuck wg because if it was a boost leak it would happen all the time

 

a boost gauge would be nice in cases like this.

perhaps your going in and out of limp mode?

 

Sometimes the car jerks as it builds boost. Normally you just hear the turbo spooling but no boost at all.

 

Get a boost gauge. Its not only nice, its a necessity when diagnosing boost issues if you dont have access to vag com to log boost levels.

 

Im planning on it since I'm chipping the Ecu within a month. Gotta get the timing belt and water pump done first
