Hi,

do you need to have the VAG s/w to turn the check engine light off? the light turned on in my car so i took it to a local mechanic and he said he can pull the codes off and possibly do the repairs but he doesn't have the s/w to turn the light off; so he told me to go an audi specialist mechanic to get this checked out. first time i encountered a mechanic who turned business away.
anyway, whatever he's saying, is it legit?
i haven't taken the car to the 'audi' specialist yet...

 

just disconnect ur negative side of the battery for a few min like 2 or 3 and it will go away

 

or you can go to advanced and see what the code is for your own good.
