for twisties is it better to turn off...
couple of my friends and i go to some twisties at least once a week but i was wondering if it was better to turn off the ESP button on a dry day.
i tried it off and on but couldn't notice a big difference.. maybe i didn't take it hard enough but can someone tell me if i should turn it
off or on for dry days. and if its better to turn it off what kind of differences does it make?

I believe that button is our traction control, can I ask why in the hell turning that offwould help you on tight turns and twisties?
I am not 100% sure its traction control but when I do lose traction and a wheel is off the ground or spinning the little light blinks making me aware of that. And when I click ESP that light permanetly comes on, making me aware I no longer have traction or am using traction "control", I just don't see how that would help you with twisties..... Is that guy that told you this your friend? Because to me it sounds like he wants you to slide off da road[&:]

Turning it off will allow you to get a little more hairy if you wanted to. It would be more noticable if you drove say a Vette, where you can easily break the rear loose mid corner with a little stab of the gas. Its not as noticable in the Audi because you have quattro and don't make near the amount of power. You would need to drive the car pretty hard and dive hard into corners to get her to start kicking the rear around. In the Vette, you can get faster lap times without the traction control on if you are a good experienced driver. Otherwise for both the Vette and the Audi, the traction control keeps you from getting into too hairy of a situation and accidentally trashing your car during some spirited driving. Go ahead and leave it on all the time. Your car really isn't so badass that you are going to get slowed down very much at all by leaving the traction control on and its a nice safety net to have when you are out playing on the twisties.
having traction control off helps on rwd drive cars, especially in a 1-2 shift when theres a lot of torque put down, if the traction control is on the car bogs a little bit and doesnt allow the tires to be "free" with it off you just chirp 1-2 pretty nicely and you dont lose any momentum as far as building your rpm's, so no bog with it off...
