If you mean code P0422: Main Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1

and if you mean P0301: Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

The #'s you gave, or he gave you arent vag or sae codes.. But since they would be using an sae obd tool, im just guessing thats what they are, because sae codes start with a "P0" and i just added the #'s you gave to that and looked it up in the bentley.

sounds to me like you may have a bad 02 sensor, and maybe a bad coil pack or plug or connection.

yea its an obd tool sorry i didnt put the letters infront of my codes forgot them becasue he didnt give them to me..

well i dont have a cat, so I would asume my primary o2 sensor is no good because or maybe my secondary, i know my primary is messed up because the threads are fed and it thows a code everyone once in a while but never these two..

been running no cat for a while now and never got a code like that, been about 8000 miles with no cat..

would bad plugs cause a missfire.. why whould it misfire..

yeah a bad plug can cause a missfire. Do you know when theyve been replaced? Pull em out and check em. Replace them if you dont know when theyve been replaced obviously. P0301 could also be your engine/rpm speed sensor.

Well most of us with the K03 notice the lack of pull in the higher rpms compared to the lower rpms. The k04 should help with that, but not completely. If you had a bag plug or coil pack im sure you would notice it as much in the lower rpms as the higher. Since you dont know when the plugs have been replaced DEFFINATELY change them. Also, you mentioned you didnt have the right k04 programing which may have something to do with your power complaint. Change your plugs and let us know what happens. Try to get the code cleard for the missfire/engine speed sensor and see if it comes back after new plugs are in. If the code comes back, switch the coil pack on cyl #1 to cyl #2, clear the code again, and see if it comes back as a cyl #2 missfire, then youll know its the coil pack. If all else fails, its probably your engine/rpm speed sensor.
Also a bad 02 sensor will take away some performance and gas mileage.

i wouldnt order the plugs personaly. If you can get back to autozone, just get some BKR6E's and gap them between .028 and .030. Like $2 each. They are copper, and will give you best performance, but will need changing every 10k miles or so. I think the new plugs and 02 sensor should restore some performance for you. If the 02 sensor hasnt been replaced and you have anywhere close to 100k miles, it would be wise to do it even if its not bad. They get lazy over time. Wait a couple weeks and get scanned again and see what happens. Get the pc-16 file asap too!!! Your welcome for the help, anytime i can use my bentley is a good time for me.

You dont want to get too cool of a plug. Deffinately go with NGK BKR6E. Your setup isnt even close to APR stage 3. I think Arif runs BKR7E which is one step cooler than the bkr6e, and well, you know about his setup...
