U get to decide
I have a 2000 1.8tQ tip with 90K miles. I'm, shall we politely say, "middle aged", but not in the grave yet. I commute 150 miles per day. Currently car is essentially stock, but when/if the turbo goes I might go the K04 route at some point in the distant future.
I'm ready for a chip. APR tuner and AWE (GIAC) are about the same distance away.
So what will it be?

yeah but you can still run a K04 with APR software. just go with the closest distributer, you can check on www.goapr.com and click on the "distributers" link to find the nearest one to you. you can also do this with GIAC
yea or you could run a giac chip with a k04 and get a discounted price for k04 software. You dont have to get k04 software, but if you upgrade to a k04 your obviously looking for more power when actually the power lies within the tuning.
you need new programming if yuo change from k03 to a k04 - but if you are with GIAC you will get a $200 discount on the k04 software. But if you plan to hit the k04 soon enough I would just skip the basic chip and buy the ko4 kit from AWE.
