Upgrading the DV.........

Upgrading the DV.........
I am planning to replace the DV of my 2001 1.8TQ AWM with the 710N. Can someone give me a heads up on the complexity of this job and what are the things I will need to buy ie. new clamps. Do I need a special tool to replace it?

RE: Upgrading the DV.........
This is an easy job! Lift your front end up and remove the protective cover. Look near your turbo (on the hoses obviously) and you'll see the DV. It's connected to three hoses. On mine it had one hose clamp with a screw and the other two had to be pinced together. Take a screwdriver and "un-pinch" the two and pull the hoses off. Be sure to hook the 710N up correctly (it looks identical to the one you have). I recommend replacing the hose clamps with all ones that screw. It's easier to reinstall plus these clamps are easier to work with. Your working in a tight spot so have patience. Overall though it's an easy DIY.

Use this DV instead. It's bosch aswell but can take a little more of a belting the bosch part# is 0280142110 and they call it a "Turbo shut off valve" thats what i'm getting. It's a 710n sports. Tougher according to a few of the guys here.
