Upsolute chip
Hi Everyone,
I just purchased a 2001 A4 1.8T with Tiptronic.
I love this car. It drives and handles incredible, however I wouldn't mind a little more "ummph".
I'm now looking into an "Upsolute" chip for several reasons:
1. dealer is close to home and have known the shop owner for over 10yrs.
2. Support
3. $$$, as much as I'd like to get an APR unit, it still is fairly pricey.
So the questions are:
Has anyone installed one of these "Upsolute" chips in their '01 A4 1.8T with tiptronic? I live in Canada, and the car has the 170hp motor.
The "Upsolute" website only shows figures for a 180hp A4, so does anyone know what the figures would be on a 170hp A4?
What are your experiences with this chip?
Thanks in advance.

The shop owner states a local dealership sends him cars (brand new) to have this chip put in.
He also mentioned that he never had a problem with one of these chips before.
The most interesting statement was "I don't have time to have problems with chips, this is why I only sell this one!"
Sounds quite positive to me, but I'd like to hear it from another A4 owner with the same car for his/her experiences.
Thanks.

Oh yes....a dealership sends their cars to him, since they are not authorized due to warranty issues.
The cars that are sent are already bought by someone, and they are all new cars (B6 chassis).
Thanks!

I have a friend that has a 2003 A6 4.2. He has an aftermarket exhaust and a couple of small mods. The dealer he bought the car from is ok with these mods. They honor his warranty. But then the car has had engine problems. So, some dealers do allow this but remember that another dealer may not and if you are going to get warranty work done it has to be at that dealer.
And there is the Beauty in the GIAC. They are able to program you ECU without installing a new chip (2001 and newer). check them out.
