v-tech?
The audi people at 2bennett Racing told me that my engine was variable timing (2001 A4 1.8tq sport). This would explain the power surde at 3k RPM even when i am not in boost, and the increase in exaust noise, but i have heard people bashing v-tech on these forums, and i didnt think they wouldnt bash their own cars...

Ya, but its the same aspect. Variable valve timing is v-tech. I was just clarifying that i actually have it.
Thanks

Read above. It is the same aspect. V-Tech is what they called it, but its the same basic thing as VVT.[sm=headbang.gif]

For instance.
Steptronic = BMW
Tiptronic = Audi
Similar idea and implementation, but still different at their core.
You do not advertise your Audi as having a "Steptronic" transmission.....
Therefore, don't advertise your VVT as being a V-Tech. That's all.
No harm - no foul.

are u sure 1.8t's have vvt? i dont know much about that engine but its my understanding that it is a simple dohc with no extra loobs on the cam for a variation in timing. im pritty sure the only thing that changes throughout the rpm range in the 1.8t's is the ignition timing. are u sure when they say variable timing they dont mean the ignition?? again i dont know much about the 1.8ts.
