Default VA/DC/MD DIY Weekend?

I just got my new Bailey's and I really wanna install it this weekend but I would much rather work with it up on a lift than crawling on the ground under a couple of jackstands. Does anyone know if there are any shops local to the Fairfax County area that might be holding like a DIY weekend?

I know that Curry's had one back in July for the Mercedes club but I'm not sure about the Audi one. I figure that being apart of the Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes clubs has to get me in somewhere... [8D]

If there isn't any shop around that has a free lift I can use, does anyone here have a nice big garage with a lift I could borrow? 6 pack for an hour on the lift...

Well since no replies on shop I guess the next question is how much of a pain in the *** is it to do the DV swap on some ramps?

It's just like 8 screws holding the under body pan on then a few clamps right?

I'd help ya out, but Fairfax county is about 4 hours away and I don't have anything I need to do on my car. I changed my DV while I was doing my timing belt so it was right out in the open.

not hard at all. If you want to drive all the way up here (1.5hrs) I can help, but you shouldn't need any. The hardest part is removing the one-time use clamps (if it has them) from the old DV, and messing with the belly pan.

Yea I know the install itself isnt bad but I just am not a huge fan of working on the ground with about a foot of ground clearance with the car on some ramps.

Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow. Hmm maybe I'll just do it tonight... How long would it take for the first time?

i don't have the underbody pan, but the first time i swapped mine out, i didn't even jack the car. its that easy. the second time i did raise it, took longer to jack car/insert jack stand/remove jack stand/lower jack than install dv. piece of cake.

I will be doing a CV boot tomorrow, and if you'd want to come up I could offer assistance with yours. Just doing it in the street in front of my house though. I hate being under the car too when its on jack stands, so I have a little tip for you. Not sure you can near you but I drive one side of the car up on the curb (I'm in the city so it's easy with the ramps for ped xers), then I jack up the other side, but the stands on it and then take my wheel off and put it under the car. Just a little extra precaution which makes me feel safe. Let me know if you want to make the trip to Balitmore... 301-980-0617 ~Aaron
