Vaccum Hose Keeps Coming Off
I have a brand new 2005 A4 convertible and know nothing about cars. I bought it 21 days ago. It currently has 1800 miles. What I think is the vaccum hose associated with the turbo in the very front of the car has come off three times. The first time I was 3 miles from the dealer and they thought it wasn't tightened properly. It's since come off two other times and I tighted it down myself each time. Typically 3-4 days LATER the check engine light comes on.
I've had it back to the dealer and they claim that the codes associated with that light are from this vaccum hose. The dealer has been no help whatsoever -- simply clearing the codes associated with the light and re-tightening the hose. I picked up the car today for the third time and am certain I'll be back in the shop within 2 weeks. Anyone have any idea what is going on here? Thanks in advance.

1, Go to the dealer & demand that the Service Manager et the car fixed so NO error codes come up. The car is brand new so there should be no error codes. I would just keep demanding to see some higher up. Eventually someone with a brain will realise you will not go away until it is fixed. (I hate dealerships with a passion). Remember you are the customer & they just made a tidy sum of money off you for a product which is faulty. Don't worry about "troubling them". I'd stay there while they fixed it too.
or
2, take the hose off make sure it isn't blocked. make sure it is put back on with no kinks in it. If it persists.... refer to option 1. :-)

wow dude that would make me really mad too. i hate it when $hit like that happens. Just keep asking to talk to people untill they fix your problem, you shouldn't have to deal with your check engine light coming on all the time
Thanks for the replies. There's no blockage associated with the hose. Just back from dealing with the Service Manager. He's just as much an idiot as the Customer Service Reps I've been dealing with. Again, they have no explanation for why the hose keeps coming off and why the CEL comes on 2-3 days afterwards. They FINALLY recluctantly agreed to order a new hose (they don't have them in stock [:@] It should come in within 2-3 business days. Jeez.
Keep on about it too. Make sure that the problem is fixed regardless. A 3 year manufacturers warranty would cover the replacement of the car if they couldn't find whats wrong with that one. Keep pushing. I hate retarded Cust Serv. People as much as I do their Managers. Don't let them push you around dude.
