Yeah true. But come on, they charge alot dont you think Jestnomen. The price is HIGH, we have to agree on that? Thats why I havent bought it yet, saving to get that one, but [IF I could have gotten it for FREE, I think I might hae thinked twice about it, since I cant, better to save up. I am pretty sure most people would have taken for free if they could have. I am just being honest. But, your right though, they are a small company and probably do offer great service.

Yes the software is expensive, but you drive an Audi. You being an Audi owner should be able to afford $99 software which could save you $100's.

yeah that is for the usb version. The serial dongle + software is ~$199.99. Sofware alone is $99.

Ok I am very very interested if you can find me the ROSSTECH - VAG - COM software for $99 . I also need the USB cable for my labtop. Jestnomen, you would be doing me a great favour if you can find both of those for me and post the link. Thanks

Or you can go for a key-com kit - 225 bucks.

I dont see one for 225. Is the OBDtool the same as the ross-tech? Honestly Jestnomen which do you recommend. Remember I need the cable and software. Can i get the OBDtool one and use the ross-tech software?

yes that's what I did. I bought my connector from obdtool for 70 bucks. I then downloaded the free version of the software from rosstech and registered it for 99.

Look at the "key-com" and follow it down to the bottom. The price is 229.00.

i can't buy on ebay... i dont trust .. got screwed one to many time... and ross tech is way too expensive for a piece of wire lke please give me a brake...and i cracked the ross tech software ...
You got screwed - so now you want to go and screw a small company that helps out audi community immeasurably by hacking their software. Nice call. Ross-Tech is an excellent company and I will personally blacklist anyone I see ripping it off. I have talked to Uwe at Rosstech quite a few times and he gives away multitudes of information that he does not get paid for. Visit the Vagcom yahoo group.

I recently switched from the serial cable to the KEY-USB cable (no need to register the software then - so you can use it on any computer). $99 software is cheap for what you are getting. If you buy it just to clear the stupid service interval codes you will get your money back 10 fold over the life time of the car. If you learn how to use it you can diagnose more things than you can imagine.

Most people complain about the price because they only want it to reset their codes. This is serious software with enthusiast written all over it. Its not priced for the know-nothing joe that has a sparkling garage and a single set of sockets in his tidy toolbox. Expensive for the typical person - but a damn good deal for a guy wanting to tune and diagnose his car with serious intentions.

Get yourself a cable like Jest did, buy the ross-tech software, and you are set. Sorry - I get upset when I see people ripping off the little guy.
