Many people have gotten that code when their stock Bypass/Diverter Valve was dying on them.
Also a possiblility that you could have a vacuum leak. Check all your vacuum hoses for cracks, leaks, etc...

Hey Brrman or Imolas4: How difficult is it to replace the bypass/diverter valve? (I haven't looked at my Bentley Manual yet), I'm just trying to get a feel for what type of job it might be. Where is it located?

1.8t dv location.
A 20 minute job doing it the first time. Just make sure you don't break the mini hose clamps unless you have zip ties or other clamps to replace them with.
I would rank it as a 1.5 on a scale of 1 - 5 (5 being most difficult) for a first timer
