Hey guys, i will be replacing my valve cover gasket soon becuase its leaking. Im wondering, when it is off, can i determine if i have an oil sludge problem. 1999 1.8t 130,000

You might be able to see bits, but if you want conclusive evidence, you need to remove the oil pan.
