Default Valves or lifters making noises?

For about a month now my lifters or valves have been making noises, but there is oil in the car this is after getting off the highway or reving to about 6K has anyone had any of these problems? I need help in this.... I checked my oil stick and it had a little more oil than it was suppose to have i dont know if this would affect it, i used Fully Synthetic 10w-30 on my last oil change my mechanic said i needed thicker oil because of my miles i hav 99K on it now. Can anyone please help me with this? Thank you

you might have to get your valves adjusted.. and I would recommend against overfilling oil next time you could blow a seal doing that

uh - I would not do it yourself unless you've done some major work on your engine.

I had it too, but mine is an oil pressure issue.... & it is not running. I have it on blocks I have dropped the front end aswell. I think my engine is dying. My first point of call would be to get an oil pressure reading.

There is no harm in testing the oil pressure is there? I would do it just incase it is & you could possible save yourself a lot of $$$$. If it is, take it to a doctor right away.

Absolutely, it wouldn't cost much at all. All they have to do is take the oil switch off, screw a guage in it & crank the engine. If you know a mechanic, borrow his gauge & do it your self... Oil switch is located just under the oil filter. Has a wire going into it.

Check oil pressure to be safe.
Try running a higher octane gas.
This may sound a little odd but, check your EGR valve. EGR valves are known to cause knocking too. To check it, locate the EGR valve and have a friend rev the engine quickly. You should see the EGR valve function as quickly as the throttle does. The EGR valve could be perfroming poorly without throwing any codes. If the EGR valve is operating slowly or poorly the cylinders may be getting too hot for the car to be able to make the necessary corrections to reduce/eliminate the knock. High NOx readings from your exhaust are another clue that something may be wrong with the EGR valve.
