Then do what I did! My cat popped out of the flange recently, so I got off my *** today and did something about it. But that's no fun to read about. That's just maintenance. Eve since this happened to me I've been thinking about gutting the cat. So here's my step-by-step.

1) Car on jackstands.

2) Take out airbox and cat-to-turbo bolts.

3) Unbolt exhaust. You can't get at the cat-to-downpipe bolts any other way.

Take out front and rear O2 sensors.

4) Obstruction identified-looks like this oddly shaped iron pipe has been filled with concrete.

5) Get a pipe you don't care about, and something to cover your nose/mouth.

6) Smash that **** out with a BFH or if you have super strength, like so:

7) Voila! An extremely bad telescope, or a much easier way for exhaust to get the hell out of your car!

Eh, the cat is on the floor of my room and the car is basically dead in the driveway, because I have to get the cat welded to the flange it keeps popping out of. I hear gains are the same as a test pipe, though. I mean, it's the same thing as a testpipe now...a pipe. That looks exactly like the factory catalytic convertor....

EDIT: Yeah, Jeff. It's a bitch. I washed it thoroughly a week ago, but then I went skiing and it looks like this. Bullshit. I spend too much on car soap. [:'(]

Good idea, space out the secondary, and the inspectors will be none the wiser to your modification. Pretty cool man.

The Porsche doesn't get driven to the mountains. Ergo, no dirt on Porsche.

I can't wait to see my car up and running again, either. Depends on when my gaskets get here from ECS. :/

Zed, it seemed like an awesome trick until I remembered I have to pass a sniffer test, not a visual inspection. Oh well. By then I'll have to worry about Washington state regulations, not Colorado. Anyone know if they have 93 octane up there?

The main thing is that hollowing the cat is almost exactly the same as what a test pipe does--although Mike Hood tells me that "blah blah turbulence blah blah" from the opening being smaller than the chamber...i dunno. I don't know if he knows--for no cost.
