Water pump replacement?

Water pump replacement?
I have a '00 A4 1.8T. My water pump was replaced under warranty at 26k miles. I am now at 75k and ready to do the timing belt. I know it is pretty much routine to replace the water pump when you do the timing belt. Will it save me time and money in the future to replace the water pump again when I do the timing belt or will the pump be good for a while?

RE: Water pump replacement?
I am not as familiar with your year, on mine (97) changing the timing belt exposes the water pump making it easy to change it. So most people do it while they are there already as preventive maintenence.
Get a Haynes or Bentley manual for your model, and look at the procedure. If you can get to the water pump without removing the timing belt, dont worry about it.

RE: Water pump replacement?
I would have to take the timing belt off to replace the water pump. That is why I am wondering if I should replace the water pump again even though it was replaced at 26K miles. I guess a better question is how many miles should a water pump be good for? This one has about 50K.

If that is the case, replace it.
A lot of t-belt kits come with the water pump. Just do it while your in there so you wont have to go back in later if it were to fail.
It wont cost you much more money or time to do it.
You can see your first one went out at 26k, so I guess you could be at risk if you dont replace it.
