96 2.8L 12v

When i start the car there is a weird grumbling noise from the engine. Also when im at a stop and in 1st at the low rpm range 2k - 2.5k it does the same grumbling. It just recently started happening and i have no idea wut this means...airbox? fuel filter? oil? any suggestions?

Also my brake pads are pretty worn and im about to change them could this cause that?

does it only happen when the car is moving or when sitting at idle? I dont think it would be your brakes if it makes the noise and you arent moving... Do your rpm's suffer when this happens? Can you elaborate on "grumbling"?

 

it happens normally when the car is cold and sitting at idle, once it warms up it goes away. it happens at idle when i start the car. my rpms are constant and not suffering. well to elaborate normally when u start an audi its quiet and the engine purrs, now when i start it i hear a louder sound , make a deep sound with ur voice like a grumble and thats wut it sounds like. kinda like i put a CAI on but not

well i found out my oil was crazy low so i put 2 qts in and i havent heard the noise since

 

That should have been the first thing you checked even before making a post!!!.. And to think, I actually made myself make a deep sound with my voice like a grumble..

 

haha yea well i did right after i posted i didnt think it could be oil but w/e :O
