Hey guys. Ive got a 97 A4 quattro 1.8T.Just had a question. First of all, my car idles at 950 rpm, andvacuums at -20 without the air-con on and -17 ~ -18 with the air-con on. My cars is boosting only 5psi through out the rev range and drops to 4 or 3psi by the time im at 6000rpm. It only ever climbs up to 7 psi under load but realyquickly drops to 5 psi but if im giving the car hell from first gear, the gauge on only ever sees 5 psi max.

1st gear - 5psi and holds
2nd- 5psi , ends up at 4 psi by the time im at 6000rpm
3rd- 6psi for half a second and then drops to 5 psi only to end up at 3 psi by the time im at 60000rpm.
4th and 5th gear are the same as 3rd ear.

Are the figures correct?? An help guys.

Everything is about normal. Boost is a tad low though. You should see 8 psi, check for boost leaks. Also the DV vac line tends to get extra crusty over time so its best to just replace that to rule it out. No point in spending the time and effort to look for leaks in it, just replace it. If its leaking, it can cause your dv to close a little bit which would reduce your boost. Search on "boost leaks" too. There are a bunch of different areas a leak can occur.
