i would get the chip first becasue its the most bang for your buck mod, i would like to get a chip but someday

 

Chip first, you will get more gains than an exhaust. Either way if you do exhaust and then chip, you will only gain AT MOST 10-15hp from exhaust. Do a poll on any other forum and it will be all majority in favor of the chip. Chip is in the lead, i wonder why.

 

Panda and trailboss, did you read anything dave said about backpressure? or should I ask do you understand what back pressure is? He just said the stock backpressure is 14psi. When you chip you making aleast 17 and some chips spiking at 20psi. Thats alot more back pressure then intended with the stock exhaust and your turbo wont last as long when its running alot hotter then it should be.

Downpipe will help alot, but its the mufflers that are so restrictive.

 

speaking of mufflers.. and being in the "first mod for a 1.8T" thread...
what's the best muffler? (not system, i can get a shop to do that for MUCH cheaper)
I don't want a ricer POS, i want a hardly audible low rumble. this possible on a 1.8T?

 

Magnaflow has a really good one, its like 160$ and its a universal, its what i have and it sounds bada$$!
