What is the best first mod for a 1.8T in your opinion?

Downpipe will help alot, but its the mufflers that are so restrictive.

Well, it doesn't matter to me cause i already have exhaust, but i did chip first and i would deffinately do it again in that order. Just think with a chip you are making about 190-200 hp, your talking like we are driving some 500 hp turbo monster. Yes if backpressure is reduced then your turbo will spool quicker and the exhaust gases are pushed out faster. The question is do you understand what backpressure is, what did you do first to your audi? Exhaust or Chip? Seems like you agree with whatever david says.
Im not retarded and understand how exhaust gas'es and turbo heat works.I had supporting mods done(including) exhaust long before i chipped). And I had this all done long before dave was even here.

Actually the piping size, then the mufflers. You kinda need mufflers or a muffler unless you wanna go for the ricer sound, or unless you have crazy HP figures to push the exhaust out quicker.

are there any other exhausts to check out besides the Oettinger? Seems like that is the ticket for the first mod. after reading about the back pressure. Also, anyone who has upgraded the intake, do you notice much of a difference? The K&N air filters claim to boost hp and acceleration and i think its 10-15% more power? Just considering a start for mods.
Yeah, exhaust is a good place to start, I went with k&n just so I would flow a little bit more air. It doesnt make that much difference in performance though.
