Hey all,
97 a4, 2.8 quattro. My questions refer to the in dash display part, (where it shows the temp. outside etc.).

I got my oil changed today, and when i got back in the car, it read "o/ 38mph" where it generally says the "mpg" i'm getting. (the o/ is to be read as a crossed out zero, like an 'anti' sign or something.)

Another time, after i've been driving for a while on a trip, the place where it says mpg usually, now said "+2 hours" (flashing). I assume this meant that after 2 hours it can't read the mpg anymore, but i don't really know.

So my questions are : 1. are any of these two things meant to alarm me about something?
2. Is there a way to control what it says in that part? I have the two buttons to press, one resets the odometer, and the other...?

Sorry, one more question,
3.What does the button on the left side do that changes the O/1 and O/2 yellow light up symbol that comes up when i drive around 80mph and how can i control what it does as well? (again, the 0/ is meant to be read as a crossed out zero, an 'anti' sign i suppose).

 

honestly, read the owners maual. theres all sorts of good stuff in there. theres a section all about the display and the different things you can do with it. it can record your time drving, your average mpg, your current mpg, and how many miles u have left to go on your gas supply. im not sure of its accuracy, but im sure its pretty close.

 

on the right hand stalk, there is a rocker button to toggle through all the features. On the underside of the stalk there is a on/off button also.

 

Yeah you are currently looking at the average mph in the trip computer. The circle with the slash through it means AVG. Triggering the stalk rocker button the boys are talking about lets you move through the functions. Holding down the button on the bottom/underneath of the stalk for a couple seconds will zero out that particular view.

By the way, yeah i dont' have the manual for this car, so i've been trying to figure out everything it does on my own. I appreciate the help. One other question, is there somewhere i can download a manual for this car? So i can look at what each number means on that display?

I have a 2010 a4 with no buttons on the end or under the wiper stick. any way I can change the display to average mpg from miles to empty? Thanks
