it is the same design with more surface area, read the post you quoted.
You say its the same design/shielding, etc. If its not a carbonio intakethen its not even close to stock aspects, unless its custom. How about you post a pic, because now its just not making sense....?

I'm confident my Focus can beat a stock 2.8 12v off the line once I install my intake.... no, not kidding...

ok i dont mean to be mean but i have a proposal.

next time im home from college (which is in a few weeks) ill race my friend again and ill record it. if i win, you have to admit to the fact that a chipped 1.8t still isnt that fast. if i lose ill never talk trash on these forums again and you are comptlety and 100% with no exception correct about everything. deal? i know his car is a passat but i think thats a more than fair trade off since its fwd and it lighter (i think).

Its just common sense.Im not an intake hater, per say, but I do have experience with using intakes on several different cars and am aware of the realaffects. A bigger intake filter with proper cooling and flow is a great idea. But when you put a bigger filter next to an oven, you suck in a lot of hot air. The intake duct from the grille to the filter area maintains air flow to that area, but since there is no air box to capture that air, its not directly taken in unless youre at high speed. Which is exactly why a tru CAI that catches air from outside the engine bay is better. Throtle response is improved (as in, how long it takes between pressing the gas and feeling the car start to move), but low end tq is taken away once you get going, and the engine seems to breath easier at high rpm's. Im more interested in low end tq than 3-5 extra hp at 6k rpm's. A guy on audizine makes a good heat shield for ram intakes, and Id make a better air duct/snorlkle if I did that. You can log your intake temps with vag com and do all kinds of tests to determine what is really effective. Sorry I typed so much.
