xenon headlights (aka HIDs) are high powered, high output headlights that require ballasts, wiring harnesses, and they can get pretty expensive...they run on xenon gas....silverstar bulbs are probably the closest you'll get to xenons while still using standard halogen headlights, which is what you have now.

btw, some bulbs are marketed as "xenon bulbs", these are not xenon, they just have a tiny amount of the xenon gas inside the bulb to give it somewhat of a xenon effect...

No, it wouldn't require any kind of wiring. You would requiere wiring etc... if you buy a HID kit for those projectors......so if your not planning on getting any HID's then go for the 457.

be very careful with ebay headlights though, there are TONS of ebay sellers that have the crappy ones that will fog up...if you get the ones from ecs, you won't have that problem. and if you do, you can exchange them with ecs. if you get the ebay ones, and they fog up, your stuck with them. you can also reseal the cheap ones by heating them in an oven, pulling off the lens, removing the crappy glue, and resealing them with some silicon. i'm going that route because i want to get angel eyes, which are only available in the cheap style so far. i'm also going to paint the inner housing black...valeo (and some people say bosch, although i've only seen valeos) are the only OE quality headlights you'll find.

Good point, be careful! But you could also find Valeo headlights in ebay....just need to be patient, and make sure the seller sends you pic's, and ask questions!

konboy, what year A4 do you have? You will need to rewire if you have a 99 or older.

I have a 98 A4. I guess that them puts me in the group of rewiring. From some other threads I have seen, I have read about some form of fender reduction/triming. Is this something I will have to take to a body shop to do for me or is it something my mechanic can do?
