what do you guys think about this intake?
Its for the 2.8, Ive never heard anything about it, its not sold in any stores ive called including autozone and baxter, they say theyre not allowed to sell it for whatever reason, but i can order it online from K&N. I was wondering, do you guys think this is good? Has anyone ever tried it before? For the 2.8, it doesnt really have an intake tube, just a short pipe that goes directly to a cone filter. It requires removing the airbox as well. If theres no airbox, wont it only suck in warm air? Im guessing K&N knows what theyre doing, but I still have to ask. Im debating between this, and just getting a new high flow K&N panel filter and keeping the stock airbox then running a ram air from the front lower bumper to the airbox.....what do you guys think i should do?

Prepare for some terrible heat soaking... those things are worthless. You will actually lose HP rather than gain. If you want to go that route, find a cold air intake... but beware of rain.
I had a NEUSPEED P-FLO for my B3 2.8 VR6 (it was a K&N filter) with the heat shield... turns out the shield and the filter didnt do ****. It was loud and annoying after awhile.

...and more warm air gets sucked in. Trust me, all it does is make lots of noise... unless you have some way to get fresh air in there (PVC pipes and the like) this thing is going to bog you down. Your better off with a drop in filter.
its not street legal thats why stores dont carry it. Its sold in Europe and thats why it exist. U dont really need to worry about heat soak i mena it is a 2.8 not oen iwth a trubo.
I plan on running a ram through my headlight, and covering the underside and sides of the filter/intake with a headshield, so it will be getting cold air straight from outside.
I bought the 50 dollar ebay intake with the k&n and made a custom headshield. also kept the stock piping from the front of the grille so that it was feeding cold air into my filter. Id say its worth it, i felt a little sharper throttle, and maybe, i say maybe a small performance gain. If anything i did it more for fun than peformance gains, becasue i learned a whole bunch making the heatshield and stuff. if i had the 1.8, i would have left my stock airbox becasue of the heatsoak from the turbo. I have driven my car hard, gotten out and felt the filter and it has been as cold as the air outside. Id say it was a success.
well i made my own custom intake, i took out the airbox and just ran an aluminized tube from the MAF to the new cone filter, it sounds awesome. When i touch the pipe though, its very hot, Will a heat shield fix this? If so, what do i need to make one?
