What do you think about this car?
I found a 2000 A4 1.8T Quattro 5spd. 55,000 miles for $12,500 asking, from a dealership (Sonnen in San Rafael, CA). It's a great drive with great interior but the flaws it has is the paint has oxidized a little all over probably because it sat on the lot for a couple of years. And on the back passenger door there is a big spot where there is no paint and the dealer said the car got hit by an egg and it burned through the paint like acid. (?!?!?!) Center dash display is messed up also, normal apparently. Although clean, carfax report said it has been there since 2003!
I went to the dealership and was expecting to drive it with agreement to get the car painted and buffed out but I left the dealership after about an hour with my Accord[:'(] and a feeling of "when will I get 'my' car?".
Can you help me out with suggestions on how I can get this car? I want to get the paint atleast buffed out and the spot on the door fixed and my budget is about 10k. The lowest he'll go is $12,300 out the door for just the car without fixing the any paint or door spot. It's been about 6 months of searching and I am getting tired.
Please help. Thanks!!

I don't know what to tell you except keep looking. I just bought an A4 2.8 Quattro on Friday with 86,000 in perfect condition (including ALL maintenance records) for $8000. It's nice that that one has lower miles, but I wouldn't buy a car with the kinds of issues you mentioned. Try to find a wholesaler or look on eBay for a car within driving distance of you.
if they dont want to repaint the car, you are going to have to invest at least 1K on the paint. i suggest to keep looking if they dont want to go lower with the price. I live in San Rafael by the way, why dont you try http://www.kovacsmotors.com/detail.cfm?ID=95925 or http://www.marinimports.com, they deal with audis too.
I purchased my 2001 1.8t Q 5 speed for 12,000. it had 80,000 mi on it. It is also a sport and was in perfect condition inside and out with all maitnance records. Keep looking good ones are out there for that price
i bought my 01 witha mystery chip, forge 007 dv, h&r lower springs, and some other goodiesfor 11,500 with 70k on the clock so keep looking you might be able to find a diamond in the rough
[sm=noooo.gif]That is way too much for that car. I honestly don't think a dealer would hold on to a car and let it sit on the lot for 3+ years. Did they confirm that? If it has, walk away.
Search either on here, other forums, or craigslist. I'm sure you'll find something more to your liking and at a better price.

if the dealer did hold it for 3 years im sure they have a good reason to do so since they have to pay tax on that car sitting on there lot if you really want the car give them a low ball offer say around 6k but you will have to take it as is but you never know they might take it if it has been on the lot for 3 years
Yeah, I started to look else where. Thanks DENIS for the links, looks promising.
Man, every time I see the list of mods and people's car on here I get excited and can't wait to get my 1.8tQ!
