What to expect after 50K miles?
Yeah, pretty much. LOL. Actually they did do a complete cooloant flush because the pH was off. I did the fuel filter myself and the rest is just justification for charging you $700.00.
If they offer the extended warranty, at a reasonable cost, with a reasonable deductable, I'd go for it.
the main problems you can find by just going through the board and seeing what people complain about.
control arms, leaking seals, engine sludge, wheel bearings, dashboard trip computer fading.

I just reached 60K and I replaced the timing belt, all the gaskets, wheel bearings, CV boots, air intake manifold gasket, O2 senser, and just got the engine basically looked at. Its maintience that goes with the car. I mean if you extended warranty is for a good price go with it!!

do you mind me asking what you paid to get those things done??? I just hit 60k on my 98 A4 and need to do the same
Honestly, it was nearly 1000 or so...maybe even closer to 2000 and that wasnt even to a dealership. Try and find someone that works on audis and VW. I mean it wasnt to bad, and it does help out a lot so your car runs smoother.. also dont forget about the plugs and some normal maintience like wear on tires and oil change..Also you probably want to change all your fluids also.
For the wheel bearing and CV boots?? You need special tools. Most of that stuff takes a lot of time like the air intake gasket took almost a day for a professional, it would take me like 3. I mean if you dont feel like spending the money then dont, but it was easier. Im a 18 year old kid and I have college and work to deal with
