1-2 farad cap for your allpication, probably isnt nessesary, but it makes it easier on your electronics, and car, no monstor power surges from bass hits
a friend of mine got one off of ebay a "power acoustik" and has no complaints about it

Most power caps say what they are good up too. But if you are worried about lights dimming this will not cure it. You need to upgrade your wires in the engine bay. Power and Ground to the battery, alternator, and engine to frame and/or to fire wall. You can either add wire to the existing wires or just replace with a larger awg. all together.

It will stop the lights from dimming. A 1 farad is goodfor 1000 watts. A power cap is basically a quick discharge battery that resists quick draw on the battery and alternator system. I used to have a 5 farad power cap and it had the capability of discharging the equivalent of100 car batteries in one nano second but takes longer to charge than that.

I would suggest 1 cap and a yellow top battery. You should be fine as long as you use decent wires and cables. A lot of people get cheap on the hardware because the equipment was so expensive. I would almost rather have cheaper subs / amps than I would wires and cables.

Funny that no one caught it sooner, but subs are rated to handle power...not produce it. The power rating of your amp driving your subs is what is important. 1 farad per 1000 watts is correct, but the more the better. Usually better to have multiple smaller caps then one large one. The cap needs to be as close to your sub amp as possible and use heavy gauge wire. Most caps are pretty much the same... but these days they come with voltage meters and pretty LED's which can make them cost more but adds nothing to it's preformance. I always recommend buying from a local small car audio store (not Best Buy, Circuit City, Tweeter, etc....)

You can get a 120 amp alternator for $65-100. Nice and easy. www.car-part.com

install the stuff., play music, watch lights. if you have bad dimming, buy a 1fared cap, and repeat.
actually this is better advice buy a battery and wire it as a cap. it will work better and it will be cheaper
