What Happened To My '98 2.8Q??? PLEASE HELP!!!
My car has 81,000 miles on it. Its a stickshift 2.8 Quattro. I am due for an oil change, but I doubt that is it. For almost a week now my car was starting up funny and it sounded like something was gonna give. Well it did, my car will no longer start up. It will click, but it wont turn over. When I tried to jump my car, it was unsuccessful, the jumper cables were on, but it wouldn't click while the cables were attached. Someone please help me determine what is wrong with my car. I'm scared to take it to a dealership and be hit with a $1000 maintenance fee. Does anyone know how expensive this might be?
Thanks A Lot... All help is needed

Check for codes. With the jumpers did you at least get a "click" of the solenoid switching?
Turn on your lights Are they OK? How old is your battery?
Either very bad battery, ignition switch, starter solenoid, or starter motor. Can you borrow a battery from another car and see if it starts?

Its probably the starter.
If you DIY, its about 175 for a lifetime bosch starter.
If you DIY, you have to loosen the A/C compressor bracket, and swing it out of the way to get enough room to remove it.
Dealer is probably gonna hit you for 500 or so.
Just roll the car down the street, and pop it into second gear. If it starts and runs, then its definitely the starter. If it still wont start, then its probably the battery/alternator.
