Default What kind of engine oil do you use?

Hi all,
I have a 1996 A4 Quattro.
it hasabout 125,000 miles on it.
I live in area where the average temperature is about 35F or below during winter time and about 70F ++ during summer time.
What kind of oil should I use for both winter and summer time.
I currently use Mobil 1 Syntec. I believe its 10W-30
and should i change to 5W-30 during summmer time?
OR, what would be the best one for my car?
Thanks

Use what you feel comfortable with. The 2.8L 12v V6 does not require a synthetic oil. I would do 5w30 in winter and 10w30 in summer. I wouldn't go with M1 personally, as its overpriced. Penzoil Platnum and Quaker State Q oils are running GREAT deals right now and probably are the best synth oils for the money.

Right now I have Q Torque Power 10w30 in my A4 with a wix 51333 filter. I chose this because I was done with an Autorx treatment and I wanted an OCI of 8k.

If you're using non synthetic and a quality filter I would go 5k. Synth oil can last longer.

I like and love amsiol oil which is around the same price as mobil 1. I get mine at napa for 6 bucks a Qt. 5W-40 euro syn. at that hig of miles...OEM filters and syn oil will make her last 100,000 more easy

I wouldn't recommend running a nonsynthetic. I use amsoil 5w-40 with a change around 5k, valvoline is my second option then theres mobil1. The mobil1 filter is a micro filter unlike the old paper ones.
