Well if you have the 1.8T engine, you should be using supreme all the time. You will end up having engine problems if you don't as the owners manual tells you to use supreme. Higher the octane, cleaner it is and better combustion. I switched from 91 to 94 and noticed better gas milage and smoother idle.

 

I always try and use the highest the stations offer but with recent prices I have been sticking to 91

Making the change? No you don't have to mix or anything as far as I know. Its not like you are changing over from mineral oil to snythetic.

Maybe put some injection cleaner in your tank to help clean the crap out of your injectors.

 

You "can" mix them if you want (ie. you want to fill the tank with premium when you already have 1/3 tank of regular). But you don't need to.

The car won't ping much at all unless you're chipped. It will simply retard the timing to adapt - albeit at a crappy fuel efficiency.

 

what's the best type of injection cleaner? seafoam? I think thats what its called...
