i may be an idiot but what is spiking? ive been searcing various things to widen my knowledge of the turbo upgrade and all of its kinks for a future turbo upgrade. i read many threads of spiking of boost, but what is it? i know pretty much all about it with its components but not about spiking. some1 enlighten me.

 

spiking is known as peaks on an oscilloscope used to find best response or faults at what ever rpm range.


it also has other meanings like spiking a drink which of course I don't know anything about just whats said on TV/ electrical arcing etc

 

Spiking here generally refers to "overboost". The turbo spools up and provides a spike in boost pressure before the wastegate starts to open and bring the pressure where it should be.
