I noticed oil on my covers next to the oil fill... I removed the center cover and noticed this (the broken parts were wrapped in some kind of tape)...
It is all one plastic tube that goes from round to square and its broken in two places... What is it and where can I get a new one?

Nevermind... Crankcase breather... I would like to know why this isnt a normal freaking rubber or siliconehose... They had to use plastic didnt they...

i had the same think on my gf passat ...i just taped it

 

I just put some packing tape onthe square side(the back side that isnt sticky) and wrapped that with electrical tape... And on the round side I put a piece of rubber hose as a coupler... The plastic is really brittle... I wish they would have just made it out of rubber like every other car maker...

Get some new rubber hose and a few clamps

 

And where will I be placing this rubber hose and clamps? The current setup is all plastic and from what I have seen the ends are screw on...

Just took a closer, look at some pics on ecstuning... Looks like they used plastic hose on the screw on fittings... So yea' I can just use silicone hose to complete the connections between the fittings... Kick ***! I just hope the pastic screw on fittings on the ends never shatter...

Well I got some really nice super flexing silicone hose for 40 bux and when I was putting it all together the connection at the rear of the engine broke in a way that I cannot fix it with hose... Now I gotta' get the factory part... Reccomendation, use factory parts...

Note to audi, use quality parts. Plastic, oil and heat dont mix. The result is brittle pipes that always break. That pipe is for the pcv system.

 

I wonder if I could put some kind of heat protector on it to help out... Maybe'a spray or that wrap stuff for headers... What does anyone think about that?
