I switched from leatherette to S4 leathers (no alacantra) and I would do it again in a heartbeat... leatherette has it's benefits... but yeah, I like sitting in my stiff, heavily bolstered S4's!

The bolsters are what makes the diffence. I think having the leatherette seats reupholstered to real leather wouldn't really be worth it because you're still minus the bolsters. I'd hold off for a while and buy Recaro's, not the way expensive ones but the lower end one's, should be able to get those for around $700 a piece or so?

If you wait around you can find a killer deal on nice seats. They just don't hold their value. I picked up a set for 600$ shipped that are normally 450 apiece plus brackets and shipping.

I'm totally for the leatherette. Not only does it cost less, it looks "tighter" as was mentioned before, it looks newer, it lasts longer, and it's easier to take care of - definitely leatherette.
